Lesbian Provincetown: Women's Events, Bars & Nightlife

Girl Splash is one of Provincetown’s biggest summer gatherings for lesbian and LGBTQ+ women, with events spread across some of P-Town’s best-known venues and beaches.

Much of the action centers on Crown & Anchor on Commercial Street, which hosts the signature pool party, Idol contest and late-night dance events. Other events take place at Herring Cove Beach, Boatslip, Red Room, Post Office Cabaret, Gifford House, Womencrafts and Bay Cafe, with additional activities leaving from MacMillan Pier and the Cape Cod dunes.

The program mixes beach days, pool parties, comedy, live shows, Tea Dance, breakfasts, sailing and dune tours, so it feels more like a women-focused takeover of Provincetown than a single festival venue.

Womxn of Color Weekend is a five-day Provincetown gathering centered on LGBTQ+ women of color, trans, nonbinary and genderfluid people of color. Founded in 2006, it combines social events with workshops, wellness, culture and nightlife, making it one of P-Town’s more community-focused theme weeks.

Events are spread across Provincetown rather than tied to one venue. Recent programming has included film screenings at Waters Edge Cinema, workshops and community sessions at The Commons, plus beach time, networking mixers, dinners, karaoke, fashion, poetry, comedy and late-night parties.

The emphasis is as much on connection and visibility as partying, with a program designed around intergenerational and multicultural community-building.

MEMDay Ptown turns Memorial Day Weekend into one of Provincetown’s biggest annual gatherings for lesbian, sapphic, nonbinary and trans communities. Organized by LesbianNightLife and Provincetown for Women, the long weekend is built around parties, dancing and social events across town, with thousands of visitors arriving to kick off the summer season.

The schedule typically includes welcome drinks, nightclub parties, a women’s boat cruise, pool events, burlesque and dedicated Single & Social meet-ups. Much of the action centers on Crown & Anchor, with additional events around Commercial Street and the waterfront.

It is one of the best weekends to visit P-Town if you want the lesbian scene at full volume, with daytime socializing rolling easily into late-night dancing.

Single Women’s Weekend is one of Provincetown’s longest-running events for single lesbians, built around actually meeting people rather than staring at another dating app. The weekend mixes social events, mixers, workshops, dinners, dancing and easy-going meet-ups across town, with plenty designed to make starting a conversation feel less awkward.

Expect everything from welcome drinks and coffee meet-ups to Tea Dance, parties and a farewell brunch, with events spread across Provincetown venues including Pilgrim House, Post Office Cabaret and Boatslip. The focus is social first, dating second, so it works just as well if you are hoping to make new friends as it does if you are looking for romance.

Lesbian Visibility Week brings a full week of women-focused LGBTQ+ events to Provincetown each spring, combining community, culture and plenty of reasons to get out and socialize. The program typically includes parties, live music, comedy, film screenings, readings, sports events and special performances across venues around town.

Womencrafts on Commercial Street acts as a main hub during the week, while events spread across venues including Pilgrim House and Provincetown Inn. The atmosphere is more community festival than single party, with daytime gatherings leading into evening entertainment and dancing.

It is one of the best times of year to experience Provincetown’s lesbian scene, particularly if you want a mix of social events, culture and nightlife rather than one big club weekend.

Womencrafts is one of Provincetown’s most important lesbian institutions, a lesbian-owned and operated feminist book and gift shop that has been part of the town since 1976. Located at 376 Commercial Street in the East End, it is much more than a shop, with a long-standing role as a community hub for activism, events and lesbian visibility in P-Town.

Inside, you will find books, art, gifts and feminist merchandise, while the store also hosts readings, community gatherings and special events. Womencrafts is especially prominent during major women-focused weeks in Provincetown and is a useful stop if you want a sense of the town’s lesbian history.
